Tamarind A Taste of Thai SM Aura | Restaurant Review

Maybe it was pure coincidence that every holiday season we would find ourselves in SM Aura or maybe it must be the fancy Christmas decors that attracted us. Anyway, it was close to dinner when we arrived. Parking was almost full to capacity but as luck would have it, we were able to find a slot immediately ; )

I have been there on several occasions and I have tried various restaurants namely COCA (where we had our Christmas dinner in 2014), the now defunct Magnum ManilaShine Bakery & Cafe and Paul Boulangerie. I wanted to try out Tamarind- A Taste of Thai for a change.

Yam Som-O Pomelo and Shrimp Salad Php 290

The restaurant was understaff but then the place was not full. I saw only two waiters and a restaurant manager/supervisor when we decided to walk in. We were given a table at the far end of the restaurant where the lighting was really bad so I had to adjust the brightness of my photos during editing.

Sampler #1- Fresh Spring Roll, Fish Cake & Kao Tang na Tang Php 260

It was Christmas Day but we don't want to over indulge so we only ordered a salad, a sampler starter, 2 main dishes and rice. The pomelo in the salad was not as juicy as I expected, some parts were already dry. Kao Tang na Tang in the appetizer sampler was like the red puffed rice (ampao/ampaw) that I used to eat when I was a kid, only this one was not as easy to chew. I only like the Fish Cake among the selection.

Panaeng Thick Curry Beef  with Ground Peanut Php 330

Gai Pad Met Chicken with Cashew Nuts Php 285

DH missed eating curry because I don't cook it anymore. I ate curry almost every day when I visited Malaysia, naumay na ako. That was several years ago but my feelings toward curry have never been the same again.

Kao Kluk Kapi Bagoong Rice Php 220

The food was not the best Thai cuisine I ever tasted but I was glad that we don't have to wait in line for a table. The service was a bit slow (the restaurant was understaff) so the restaurant has to improve on the efficiency of its employees.

Tamarind- A Taste of Thai is located at Unit 523-524 SM Aura Premier 26th St. cor. McKinley Parkway, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
