Taipei Taipei | Restaurant Review

Last night DH took my daughter and I at a newly opened restaurant called Taipei Taipei Taiwanese Cuisine located just beside Tweedle Book Cafe along Sct. Gandia St. in Quezon City. It just opened that day so we didn't expect much in terms of food and service but we were surprised because our tummies never felt this full for the price that was just right.

Taipei x Taipei Restaurant | Menu

Wushu Spareribs Php 199

There were only about 15 food items or less handwritten down on a piece of paper. Prices were not included in the list. When the bill was handed over to us, surprise, surprise, each item costs only Php 200!

When I am with DH, we tend to overorder. Just take the case of our dinner last night, we were only three, technically, it's just two adults since my daughter is still a toddler, and we ordered about 6 items ; p

Wushu spareribs is much like Chinese-style adobo with  thickened sauce, only this dish's main attraction is spareribs instead of the usual pork cubes. It was tender in every bite.

Cha Misua Php 200

Cha Misua came out before Shrimp Fried Rice. The soy sauce was kind of overwhelming, I had to ask for Hoisin sauce to balance out the taste. Speaking of condiments, only Black Vinegar was on the table, there's no chili available ; (

Salt & Pepper Squid Php 199

Salt & Pepper Squid is greasy but what it lacks in presentation, it makes up for in taste. I ate everything including the garlic, red and green pepper ; p

xiaolongbao Php 200

XiaoLongBao was well made, with the soup preserved inside the wanton wrapper until you decide to break and slurp it. Careful, this dish is extremely hot!

Seafood Tofu Soup Php 200

There's bits and pieces of shrimp and fish in Seafood Tofu Soup. It tasted a bit fishy but overall, it was all right.

Shrimp Fried Rice Php 200

I know I was not supposed to eat rice but I could not resist Taipei Taipei's Shrimp Fried Rice. It was a meal in itself with egg, shrimp and spring onion sprinkled on top.

I think it was only one or two of the staff knew or were knowledgeable of the menu. In terms of service, except for the Shrimp Fried Rice which came out last, the rest was served on our table right away.

You know the drill when it comes to parking in Quezon City, only side street parking is available so park at your own risk.

Taipei Taipei Restaurant is located at 106C Scout Gandia St., Tomas Morato, Quezon City. For more information and reservation, you may call 990 1513.

Tweedle Book Cafe

Cafe Latte Hot Php 140

Naturally, we went to its next door neighbor, Tweedle Book Cafe right after our hefty dinner. We needed to cap off the night with some coffee and dessert.

Carrot Cake Php 120

We ordered a slice of Carrot cake for DH, a Strawberry Mango ice cream (Php 100) for my daughter and a hot cup of Cafe Latte for me.
