Two Part Series: Part 1- Real Beauty
Part 2- Real Care
A few days before I attended the first ever Dove Summit in Sofitel Philippine Plaza, DH invited me to watch a movie. This is how our conversation went while I was putting on my makeup...
DH: "Manunuod lang tayo ng movie, mag mamakeup ka pa?"
Me: "Para naman maging maganda ako sa paningin mo at di magmukhang losyang!"
DH: "Maganda ka naman maski walang makeup"
My husband can be sweet when he wants to. I am lucky to have a husband who embraces my real beauty. He is my number one fan ; )
As for me, I learned that I am part of the 93% of women who do not feel beautiful. Based on Dove's global survey, only 7% of Filipinas think they're beautiful while the rest do not like the way they look.

Going back to the event, little did I know that all the guests at the two-day Dove Summit will be challenged to remove their makeup to reveal their #RealBeauty.
Rowena and I were wearing Dove's color- white and blue |
Before the actual program started, attendees were ushered to their respective rooms. My room was on the 11th floor where I have access to Sofitel's Club Lounge called Club Millesime.

I spy a complete range of Dove products inside my toilet and bath... yipee! |
Dove shampoo, conditioner, treatment conditioner, leave-on conditioner, soap, body wash and deodorants (in all sizes) were all laid out on top of the vanity table. Instead of just removing my makeup, I decided to take a bath because the heat was unbearable that day.

Dove believes that Real Beauty is not about living up to an imposed standard. This beauty must be celebrated and applauded, not hidden or altered.
During the afternoon program, Dove played a video of Filipinas who thought they were not beautiful. I remembered a woman on the video who said that her mother told her she was not beautiful which is really, really sad ; ( I would never say that to my child.

After the short presentation, we were ushered to another room where famous photographers like Sara Black, Joan Bitagcol and Pilar Tuason took our barefaced photos. These photos were repeatedly played the entire night during the dinner event.
Here's what was served to us during dinner...
Shrimp Orange and Avocado Timabale with Reduced Orange and Ginger Dressing |
A bowl of Forest Mushroom Soup with Blue Cheese Crostini was served right after (not in the photo).
Oven Roasted Beef Tenderloin with Potato Burnoise and Grilled Vegetables |
Other guests opted for Pan Seared Tangigue Served with Mashed Potato with Saffron Vinaigrette and Asian Vegetables.
Fresh Mango Cheese Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream and Pistachio Nuts |
Cheers! |
