Lupang Hinirang (Video with Lyrics) + Pledge of Allegiance to the Philippine Flag (Filipino Version)

I consider my daughter's entry to preschool as our major milestone for the year 2015.  I want to document whatever it is that my child is doing so I can see her progress in school. If you are a co-parent, you can easily spot me because I guess I am the only one who carries a camera whenever I drop off or pick up my child in school ; p

Anyway, they have a flag ceremony every other day. Whenever Lupang Hinirang is played, kids are encouraged to stand in attention, place their right hand to their upper chest, and sing the anthem in correct tempo and lyrics.

I downloaded a video from YouTube feauturing Lupang Hinirang so I can play it again and again to my daughter. It is easier to recall when she hears the song over and over. That's what my mom did when she taught her Bahay Kubo. In just one week, she memorized the entire song already.

Lupang Hinirang

Bayang magiliw,
Perlas ng Silanganan
Alab ng puso,
Sa Dibdib mo'y buhay.

Lupang Hinirang,
Duyan ka ng magiting,
Sa manlulupig,
Di ka pasisiil.

Sa dagat at bundok,
Sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw,
May dilag ang tula,
At awit sa paglayang minamahal.

Ang kislap ng watawat mo'y
Tagumpay na nagniningning,
Ang bituin at araw niya,
Kailan pa ma'y di magdidilim,

Lupa ng araw ng luwalhati't pagsinta,
Buhay ay langit sa piling mo,
Aming ligaya na pag may mang-aapi,
Ang mamatay ng dahil sa iyo.

Pledge of Allegiance to the Philippine Flag
(Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas)

After singing the Philippine National Anthem, the teachers led the kids to recite the Pledge of Allegiane to the Philippine Flag. It is one of two national pledges, the other being the Patriotic Oath, which is the Philippine national pledge.
Ako ay Pilipino
Buong katapatang nanunumpa
Sa watawat ng Pilipinas
At sa bansang kanyang sinasagisag
Na may dangal, katarungan at kalayaan
Na pinakikilos ng sambayanang
Maka-Diyos
Maka-tao
Makakalikasan at
Makabansa.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Philippine Flag is recited at flag ceremonies immediately after the Patriotic Oath or, if the Patriotic Oath is not recited, after the national Anthem.

It's already been a week since she started going to school. So far, so good. She is enjoying every hour inside the classroom. She does not bring home any assignments from school, not just yet. I hope she can nail it this first semester!

How about you? How was your kid's first week in class?
