Last week was truly overwhelming. It was not only "back to school" but also last minute shopping for for my little girl's school materials too. The night before her school opening, I wrapped all of her nine books, yes, nine ; p Talk about cramming!
After buying her a new pair of inexpensive school shoes, we had some afternoon snacks at HotBox Kitchen located along P. Guevarra St. in San Juan.
Poutine
Poutine Php 200 |
These days, I really needed my caffeine fix or else, I will have a splitting headache the whole afternoon and could not function well. That's why immediately after entering the restaurant, I ordered a hot cup of brewed coffee. HotBox's coffee in inexpensive at only Php 45.
Poutine is a Canadian dish, originating in the province of Quebec,
made with French fries and cheese curds topped with a light brown
gravy.
Since this is a Canadian-inspired restaurant, I ordered Poutine. According to the menu, HotBox's version is hand-cut fries with Bacon gravy, Mozzarella and Aged Cheddar on top. Not exactly the one I tasted when I visited Canada---> lacks cheese curd. Kinda disappointing huhu
Double Smoked Candied Bacon

Sugar, Black Pepper and Chili Flakes
Thank goodness the Double Smoked Candied Bacon saved the day. Each bacon was sweet, hot and crispy (in that order ; p) in every bite... I love it! Trust me, you will need that water on the side hehe
