Paradise Dynasty | S Maison

I remember it clearly, it was earlier this year that I drove down south of Metro Manila as soon as I found out that my passport was expiring in six months. The traffic was horrible. It was a very stressful day that I somehow wish I can forget!

With the Manila traffic and BER months kicking in, I don't think I can ever drive that far again. But it's another story if somebody is willing to drive especially for food. That person is none other than my sister ミ●﹏☉ミ

When my mom told me about their planned food trip at S Maison, I was excited to join them because I know there are a lot of good dining choices available only at Manila's latest luxury mall. One of the restaurants that I could not wait to try was Paradise Dynasty and its famous Specialty Dynasty Xiao Long Bao.

Paradise Dynasty |  Legend of Xiao Long Bao

Black Truffle
There was no prior reservation made, we were just walk-in guests. The stench of black vinegar filled the air. Apparently, one of the diners accidentally spilled a bottle. Once the food were served on our table, the unpleasant smell was not an issue anymore. Who would not be delighted to see these colorful xiao long bao?!

Original (center); (clockwise from green) Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Truffle, Cheesy, Crab Roe, Garlic and Szechuan (red)

How to enjoy the Specialty Dynasty Xiao Long Bao

"To ensure the optimum tasting of these 8 distinct flavors, start from the Original flavor and in the following sequence (as shown above) ending with the Szechuan Xiao Long Bao."

Okay, so that ☝️didn't happen because we are four in our group and there's only 8 pieces of Xiao Long Bao in one order haha At Php 388 per order, we better just share one order #tipidtips I am sure I got the Black Truffle because I took a photo of it (╯⊙ ⊱⊙╰ ) It doesn't matter what was the second variant I ate because, for me, both tasted the same. ⊂(©෴©)つ

How to eat Xiao Long Bao

  1. Lift it out of the steamer basket by its strongest part, the topknot. Use spoon for support if needed)
  2. Resting its back on the spoon, nibble a small hole to let out steam
  3. Sip the tasty soup from the spoon
  4. Dip it gently into the dish of vinegar. You can add some ginger if you like.
  5. Enjoy!

I must have dipped the two pieces of xiao long bao in way too much vinegar that both tasted the same when I ate them haha My bad!

The restaurant recommends that you eat all the xiao long bao without the ginger and vinegar so as not to alter the taste. I read the instructions on a piece of paper handed out by the waiter after I already ate them.... too late! Nobody can blame us because we were all hungry from the terrible traffic we had to endure for hours.

Crispy Sweet & Sour Pork

A trip to a fancy Chinese restaurant is not complete without ordering my favorite dish of all time- Sweet & Sour Pork. It's crunchy on the outside and the meat is tender inside. The taste is a perfect blend of sweet and sour. It didn't disappoint!

Stir-fried River Shrimps with Cashew Nuts and Dried Chili Php 488

Stir-fried Spinach with Minced Garlic Php 288

Yang Zhou Fried Rice Php 238

We also ordered Stir-fried Spinach with Minced Garlic, Stir-fried River Shrimps with Cashew Nuts and Dried Chili, and Yang Zhou Fried Rice. The food were all good. It was no surprise that there were no leftovers to take home!
