Karen's Kitchen Kapitolyo | Restaurant Review

I consider May as the merriest month of all, not only because it's my birth month but also because there's two more occasions that I celebrate- Mother's Day and my wedding anniversary.

For my wedding anniversary, I chose to celebrate it at Karen's Kitchen in Kapitolyo, Pasig. DH and I have been wanting to try Karen's delectable treats for a long time. In fact, we considered celebrating Mother's Day here last Sunday but upon checking its Facebook page, the restaurant is closed every Sunday so we ended up having lunch at Tomo Japanese Dining instead.

DH googled the number of Karen's Kitchen and made a reservation for dinner last Wednesday night. Yes, folks, reservation was made that same day ; p Thank goodness, the restaurant was not fully booked. It was Max who answered and vibered the menu as some of the items listed takes a lot of time (read: 1 1/2 hours) to prepare and cook. Advance order is preferred.

Aside from the extract being used to colour food particularly rice, here are some trivia about the Blue Pea flower---> it has memory enhancing, nootropic, antistress, anxiolytic, antidepressant, anticonvulsant, tranquilizing, and sedative properties.

Okay, immediately after knowing that Blue Pea is like a memory enhancing pill, I consumed both flowers lol Not sure if it has immediate effect haha

The Bagoong Blue Pea Rice is served in a heart-shaped dish. Presentation wise it is awesome, tastewise, it was just right, the bagoong was a bit underwhelming. On a positive note, my daughter ate it with gusto and wiped away everything on my plate hehe

If you have to order one dish in Karen's Kitchen, it would have to be the Summer Garden Crispizza. The word "Crisp" isn't there just for word play, it's really crispy in every bite. And healthy, too!

Every dish we ordered has a lovely presentation. Take a look at Artichoke Hearts Garlic in Olive Oil, the bread was cut into these cute, bite-size, heart-shaped pieces, yes, all 12 of them!

This is my kind of restaurant- homey and I can really feel the love everywhere especially on Karen's comfort food. The place is just perfect to celebrate a special occasion!

Among the three desserts that we ordered, I really like Chocolate Ganache Cupcake. It's sinfully delicious and chocolaty too!
