7th Birthday | Unicorn Party
I had only two months to plan the birthday party. The moment my husband decided that we will throw a party for our baby girl, I started looking for possible party venues and event places in Quezon City, San Juan City, Pasig City, and even as far as Taguig City. I went to as many as four venues in one day!
The Alley by Vikings Ayala Cloverleaf Mall | Party Venue
Between us, my husband is the more practical one. He suggested a buffet restaurant but I had other venues in mind that I wanted to check out. I wanted the party to be held in an event place just like where we held our daughter's Lalaloopsy themed first birthday party. The party coordinator in me knew that it's impossible to find a venue at such a short notice but I just had to give it a try.
Several ocular inspections later, we ended up booking half of the space at The Alley by Vikings (Just like what my husband wanted 👅). It is located at the 2nd Level, Ayala Cloverleaf Mall in Balintawak, Quezon City.
We took into consideration the following:

- Accessibility- Elevator
- Covered Parking Spaces- August is a rainy season
- Food- Buffet so it's unlimited so no one will get hungry
- Cost/Price
- 31 kids- Kid 1 (kids between 3-4ft) are priced at Php 288 (Php 302.40) OLD RATE
- 20 kids- Kid 2 (kids between 4ft- 4ft 6in) are priced at Php 588 (Php617.4) OLD RATE
- 7 Free Kids (below 3 ft)
The Alley total cost including Taxes and Service Charge: Php 176,043 (182 adults + 58 kids =240 pax)

Next, is the event stylist. Back in the day, my clients are already happy to see a Balloon Arch at the entrance and Balloon Pillars on the sides of the stage, but not anymore. Party decor these days includes ceiling treatment with not only balloon buntings, but also swags, lanterns and other stuff hanging from above. The decors are sometimes so grand and filled with balloons that you can hardly see the ceiling anymore. That said, the cost is outrageous!
As soon as we deposited a 10% down payment for the venue, I looked for an event stylist that will fit within our budget. To minimize the costs, I went with a company that creates its own backdrop and the props.
I gave my daughter the freedom to choose which backdrop design she likes then I contacted the supplier via Facebook messenger. We scheduled an ocular inspection of the venue and paid the down payment during our meeting.

Even with limited working hours in their hands, coupled with the strict implementation of rules given by The Alley, the owners (Shanel Dizon and Gem Espago) were able to work their magic. The venue was transformed with the vision I had in mind and more. They were easy to work with. They worked double time especially during the day of the event as they only had 2 hours to finish the setup before the doors of The Alley opened.

Sugar Rush Entertainment PH | Party Entertainment
One of the important part of the program is the party entertainment. To liven up the program, I hired Sugar Rush Entertainment. We had a fun party filled with sing and dance numbers courtesy of the bubbly owners Kris Napenas and Karen Jaysette Bingco.

I highly recommend Sugar Rush for your party entertainment. My daughter is shy but they were able to let her join the fun and games too. When she is happy, I am happy too!

Liabella Cakes & Styling | Unicorn Cake
I have encountered a lot people throughout this whole planning but none as easy and flexible as Mabelle Tidalgo of Liabella Cakes & Styling. The cake supplier that I was looking forward to order from prior to meeting Mabelle was the exact opposite. That one had no sense of business. Anyway, I already had a vision of what my daughter's Unicorn cake would look like. I like it with clouds, rainbow, hearts and of course, the side profile of the Unicorn.

I tried to manage my expectation since she does not have a sample work of the side profile but I was impressed with her work. The Unicorn looks nice and presentable while the pastel colors (yellow, pink and purple) are in theme with the party.

Twist and Dale Balloons | Balloon Twisting
With more than 50 kids, I thought of adding balloon twisting to the party. My late uncle, Richard Cu, was one of the pioneers in balloon sculptures and twisting. I was blessed that he was able to train me before he passed away. We used to twist balloons at mall events in costume. Those were the days!

Anyway, I tried looking for a unique souvenir that both kids and adults will like. I found Twist and Dale Balloons online. The husband-and-wife tandem/owners are Roberto and Melody Abarientos. They twist balloons on the spot. What sets them apart is that they placed the balloon art on the wrists or as a head piece. It looks quirky but it surely brought joy to both kids and adults alike.

Loot Bags | Souvenir Items | Prizes
We spent Php 8,450 for 65 pieces of folding chairs from SM. These were given away as parting gifts to the attendees. I made another 70 loot bags containing small prizes. These bags were given to kids upon entering the venue. I can only estimate the price to about Php 3,000. And another Php 3,000 rough estimate for the prizes that were all bought from sale season.

I always seek Mr. Noli Catubig for blow dry service whenever I am in Fleur Salon & Spa. It was a no-brainer that he is the one to curl my daughter's hair for her special day. He was prompt and arrived at exactly 9AM. He quickly started curling her hair and in a few minutes it's done. I was next. It took him less than 15 minutes to style my hair and make it bouncy.
