Villa Escudero 2019 | Entrance Fees + Museum Tour + Buffet Lunch by the Waterfalls + Cultural Show + Bamboo Rafting + Swimming Pools + Things To Bring

Over the weekend, my family toured Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort in Tiaong, Quezon, dined at Sulyap Gallery Cafe and stayed overnight at Casa de Obando Bed & Breakfast in San Pablo, Laguna. Our adventure didn't end there, the next day, we traveled to Alaminos, Laguna for a dip at the crystal clear, natural spring water of Hidden Valley Springs.

2 Days/1 Night Itinerary

My daughter was still in her pajamas because we just took her out of the bed straight to the car where she slept during our road trip lol

Villa Escudero | Things to Bring

  • Swimming Attire
Proper swimming attire is required when you want to take a dip at one of Villa Escudero's swimming pools. Make sure to bring bathing suit and swimming trunks/board shorts with you. If you have a rash guard, wear it to protect your body from the direct heat of the sun.

  • Sunblock
Don't forget your sunblock for face and body. You should also bring your own towels, change of clothes and toiletries. The resort will not provide these items for you in the shower area. It can get crowded in the Female Shower Area especially if it is close to closing time. There is only one Shower/Changing area with 8 cubicles for Females located near the swimming pool area.

  • Mosquito Repellent

When traveling, I always bring with me a bottle of Ilog Maria Sting-less Citronella Mosquito Repellent with Propolis to ward off pesky mosquitoes. I don't know why but my daughter and I are the usual targets of these bloodsucking insects. I apply it liberally to our hands, arms legs, feet and other exposed body parts. I even apply some of it on our clothes.

applied mosquito repellent immediately right after this bite

On a side note, we were just standing in front of the museum when my daughter complained that she was bitten by a mosquito huhu I hurriedly went back to where we left our stuff  (baggage counter) to get the bottle of mosquito repellent. Before I was able to apply it on her, I was also bitten by the pesky insect. Too late, huh?! I should have applied it before we went to the lobby/registration area.

  • Cap/Hat
  • Water & Junk Food
You are not allowed to bring in food, only water and junk food are allowed inside.

  • Pets are NOT ALLOWED

Villa Escudero Museum Tour

"Fill Your Life with Experiences, Not Things. Have Stories to Tell, Not Stuff to Show"

The Villa Escudero museum is found inside this 2-storey pink church filled with antiques and life-sized religious items. It was started by Arsenio and Rosario Escudero and passed on to the living generations of the family. My daughter learned a lot of history that day.

No picture-taking allowed inside

Villa Escudero | Traditional Filipino Lunch Buffet by the Labasin Waterfalls (Hydroelectric Dam)

*Lunch at the Waterfalls is highly weather-dependent and may be transferred at any time for the safety of the guests.

From the museum, a short carabao cart ride will take you to the country's first working hydroelectric plant called Labasin Dam. You can have a unique dining experience right below the spillway of the hydroelectric dam called Labasin Waterfalls. Diners can enjoy their lunch dipped in the flowing calf-deep water.

Playground at the carabao cart ride stop

When we arrived 15 minutes to 11 AM, most of the tables under the shade were already occupied. We found ourselves a table under the scorching heat of the sun. One of the staff recommended a table at the back where the tables are under the makeshift tent but since we have our caps on, I said we are okay with our table.

Instead of going to the buffet table, a staff said he can get our food so we will not fall in line. The food was delicious and so worth it even under the heat of the sun. The food was served over Pandan leaves, kamayan style. You can request for disposable spoons and forks. Sorry all we have is a video of our food. I just took a screenshot so the outcome is a bit grainy.

The all-Filipino buffet spread includes Inihaw na Tilapia, Inihaw na Liempo, Mechado, Lechon Manok, Noodles, Bagoong, Atchara, Sinigang, Lumpiang Prito, Banana que/cue and Watermelon. Water is available upon request. Buko is optional at Php 40 each.

Bamboo Rafting | Labasin Lake

Labasin Lake is a narrow lake created by Labasin hydroelectric dam.

Okay, notice that our photo is not faraway from the dock because we didn't leave the dock. Our pose was for photo op only. To tell you the truth, I could not paddle and even navigate lol It was only DH who tried it out. One must wear a life vest provided by the resort.

Villa Escudero | Swimming Pools

Children's Pool
Infinity Pool
There are a total of three swimming pools but I only have two photos because the third one is off-limits to children. Only adults (18 and above) are allowed to use the jacuzzi located adjacent to the infinity pool.

Villa Escudero | Cultural Show

Locals and tourists are eager to catch the Philippine Experience Show. It is a cultural dance show choreographed by National Artist Ramon Obusan. The Villa Escudero staff together with some of their children and grandchildren performed with accompaniment of live Rondalla music.

The first half of the show is a bit boring but the second half is livelier because of the skit on Sabong  (cockfighting). Singkil and Tinikling were my favorites. You can take photos with the performers right after the show. The guy on the right wearing red danced so well.

In between swimming and watching the cultural show, we ordered Mango Shake (Php 150), Vanilla Milkshake (Php 150), French Fries (Php 150) and Clubhouse Sandwich (Php 200) for merienda.

We had a great time and experience true Filipino hospitality at Villa Escudero- from the al fresco dining by the dam aka the waterfalls to the children's swimming pool and of course, the cultural show. I highly recommend this trip to parents with kids because it's also an educational tour as well.

Next post is all about our dinner at Sulyap Gallery and the overnight stay at  Casa de Obando Bed & Breakfast.
